Q: Do you provide a loaner car or a ride to work for me while my car is at The Clinic?
A: We will be happy to order an Uber or Lyft for you if you need a ride to work, home, shopping, to a local restaurant, or wherever your heart desires. The small charge for this service will be added to your invoice to be paid at the time of completed service. While we do not currently have a loaner car program in place, we are working on getting all of the pieces in place very soon to offer this service as well! We are committed to doing whatever we can to make your experience at My Car Doc Car Care Clinic the best ever!
Q: Can I bring in my own parts?
A: When you have your vehicle repaired at My Car Doc Car Care Clinic, you are protected under the Tech Net warranty, which is accepted at over 9,300 locally owned shops nationwide! Chances are that you’re never more than 40 miles from a Tech Net shop, no matter which state you’re visiting! Unfortunately, our insurance company nor our warranty company will protect you or us if we supply parts that are brought in to The Clinic. In order to give you the best service and the best protection possible, My Car Doc insists on supplying the parts for you. Relax, we’ve got you covered!
Q: I see that you have a mobile unit with the original My Car Doc. Can you come help me?
A: When My Car Doc LLC started as a 100% mobile company, our technicians performed all of our repairs at your home, office, or wherever your vehicle was located. Now that we have The Clinic, all of the major repairs and diagnostics are performed at our Castleton location and the mobile unit is only available for light maintenance issues such as oil changes, battery replacement, wiper blades, emergency jump starts, etc. We can now provide a much more thorough and complete service by taking care of your vehicle at The Clinic!
Q: I started on this repair and now I need help. Can you help me?
A: I’m sorry, but for insurance and liability purposes, My Car Doc does not take over in the middle of a job started by a DIY customer hoping to save money.
Q: When can I pick up my car?
A: The Clinic is open from 8am until 6pm Monday through Friday and 9a to 3pm on Saturdays. However, if you need to pick up your vehicle after hours, that’s totally okay! We work around your schedule! Just let us know and we will be happy to make those arrangements for you.
Q: When can I drop off my car?
A: Any time that you like! We have a drop box located conveniently on the front of the building with envelopes that you can fill out with your contact information and desired repair. Fill out the envelope, sign the bottom and deposit your keys safely inside the building. We will get them we re-open in the morning! 🙂
Q: Do I need an appointment?
A: An appointment isn’t necessary but would be helpful in order to get you in and out of the Clinic as quickly as possible. If you don’t have an appointment you may need to wait just a bit before we can serve you. However, if you have an appointment, we will reserve a lift and a bay just for your vehicle at that particular time. Because that bay is reserved for you, we politely ask that you try to be on time or early for your appointment so that people with appointments after yours are not delayed.
Q: Do you do body/collision work?
A: No, but we’d be happy to recommend a local body shop that can help!
Q: Can I talk to a technician?
A: Our front desk staff that answers our phones will be happy to answer your questions and help you in any way that we can. However, our technicians are busy taking care of the cars for other clients. Taking time out of their busy schedules and pulling them off the work they’re doing causes delays for other clients. For these reasons, we have a company policy of not bringing technicians to the phone.
Q: Do you have any cars for sale?
A: Occasionally, we will have a client that has a vehicle for sale that we will help sell for them. Sometimes this will be posted on our Facebook page and sometimes they sell so fast that we never even get a chance to post them! It never hurts to ask, but it’s not a frequent occurrence.
Q: Do you charge for diagnostics?
A: A proper diagnosis takes time. We may have to investigate wiring schematics, test compression, pressure test fluid systems, or remove some parts to do a visual inspection of the suspected faulty part. Because all of this takes time, a typical diagnostic charge is only approximately $130.
Q: Do you work on Landrovers? BMWs? Mercedes?
A: We sure do! My Car Doc works on all makes and models of vehicles. We’ve been entrusted with all kinds of vehicles, including high end imports, domestics and even a couple of Bentleys.
Q: Do you sell batteries?
A: My Car Doc is proud to carry Interstate Batteries with either a five or six year warranty, one of the strongest warranties in the battery industry!
Q: Where can I leave a review?
A: If you’d had a less than stellar experience with My Car Doc in any way, I’d like to listen and find out where improvements can be made. My Car Doc strives to be the best auto repair experience possible and we cannot do that without your honest feedback, so please feel comfortable talking with us and providing constructive criticism. Q: If my car doesn't start, what should I do?
A: With today’s modern vehicles, the engine and ignition systems, there are so many parts and sensors that can cause a non-start situation that it’s impossible to tell over the phone what is causing the problem. Your vehicle might not be starting due to problems with the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, the starter, ignition switch, cam shaft position sensor, crank position sensor, or about half a dozen other sensors. The first thing to do is calm down and call My Car Doc 317-345-4528. We’ve got you taken care of. One of our friendly front desk staff will be happy to arrange to have your vehicle towed with one of professional tow truck partner companies to our Clinic at 8246 Allisonville Rd in the Castleton area of Indianapolis. From there, our knowledgeable technicians will diagnose your vehicle (Diagnostic rates may apply.). Once the patient (your car) has been diagnosed, our front desk will go to work for you. We will find you the best quality parts at the best possible prices. We will then call or text you (your choice) with a full report of what’s wrong, how long it will take to fix it, when parts will be arriving, and when you can expect to have your four-wheeled buddy back on the road again! Once we have your approval and deposit, parts will be ordered and you’ll be behind the wheel again in no time!
Q: Can you give me an estimate over the phone for a repair, even though my car has never been there?
A: We’d be happy to! However, there are a few problems with that. The main issue is that we haven’t diagnosed the problem with your car, so we’re not sure what all you need to fix the issue. The other problem is that even if you know the exact problem, there are many models, submodels, and trim packages that are different. This can cause a difference in parts and prices of those parts. You wouldn’t call a doctor you’ve never seen and does not have your medical history and say, “Hey Doc, I have a rash. Can you tell me what this is and what’s causing it over the phone?” Why? Because that doctor does not know your medical history, what you’re allergic to, what you’ve experienced, what you’ve been through together, etc. For very similar reasons, it’s difficult for a Car Care Clinic such as ours to give you a diagnosis and cost over the phone without having looked at the patient first to determine exactly what’s causing the issue. Also, you may know the surface reason (It just needs a tuneup!), but what’s causing the plugs to foul out? Simply replacing a part may seem to help, but it’s just a band-aid solution, not resolving the underlying problem that caused the symptoms to present themselves.
Q: Do you offer towing?
A: My Car Doc LLC does not tow cars ourselves, we leave that to the professionals who can do it better! We’d like to focus on doing what we do best: getting your car back on the road as quickly as possible with the best quality repairs! However, we do have partnerships with a couple of professional tow truck companies here in Indianapolis that will pick up your vehicle with one of their specialty flatbed trucks and safely transport it to The Clinic. We will cover the bill and add it as a line item on your invoice so that you can reimburse us when you pick up your car when the repairs are complete.
Q: How much to fix tires?
A: We will be happy to air up your tires! However, when it comes to tire repair, there are about a half dozen places within two miles that compete very strongly for tire repair and retail. We can certainly make a recommendation for you!
Q: Where do you get your parts from?
A: We have a variety of dealerships and warehouses where we get parts that meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer standards (OEM). This means that the parts that we install on your vehicle will be or be better than what was installed at the factory when your car was first built!
Q: Can you pick up my car?
A: My Car Doc Car Care Clinic offers a concierge service! For only an additional $20, we will come to you (within 10 miles) to pick up your vehicle, perform requested service and return it right back to your home or office. How easy is that! We’re just a phone call away. Call today to schedule your appointment: 317-345-4528
